Who is Alan Newton
I've spent 25 years being the buyer, the vendor, the operator, and the founder. This breadth of experience isn't incidental becauase it's the thing that makes the work I do now genuinely useful.
I started in the events industry, building procurement and commercial teams, running supplier strategy for agencies managing up to £250M in annual spend. I sat on advisory boards for Hilton, IHG, Marriott, Four Seasons and others. I learned early how to read a room, whether that be commercially, operationally, or politically.
Then I co-founded a software startup. We scaled it to over £5M in revenue with less than £900K in external funding, made the Silicon Valley Comes to the UK list of the 50 highest-growth startups in 2020, expanded into the US and Canada, survived a pandemic, and ultimately wound it down after 11 years. I drove 87% of company revenue as COO.
That experience — building something from nothing, carrying it through the hard parts, and knowing when it was over — is the foundation of everything I bring to founders and leaders now.
I have an MBA and a Certificate in Global Leadership from Hult International Business School in London. But the most useful education has been the decisions I've got wrong, the patterns I've learned to spot early, and the conversations I've had with people who needed someone to help them see clearly.
I work with a small number of clients at a time. I'm not the right fit for everyone, and I'd rather tell you that upfront than waste your time or mine.
